Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes the categories of information processed in connection with YoruLearn, the purposes for which that information is used, the circumstances in which it may be disclosed, the period for which it may be retained, and the choices and rights that may be available to you under applicable law.
1. Website Cookies and Browser Storage
- The YoruLearn website does not currently set advertising cookies or analytics cookies.
- Cloudflare Web Analytics is used for aggregate page-view and performance measurements. Cloudflare states that its Web Analytics beacon does not store data in the browser or access cookies, local storage, session storage, or IndexedDB.
- When you open YoruLearn in the App Store, the website records a limited usage event containing the source page, button label, button placement, destination type, and a random value kept only for the current browser session. This provides aggregate action totals, estimated unique sessions, and page-by-page performance data without advertising cookies or cross-site tracking.
- The temporary session value is stored in session storage and expires when the browser session ends. Before analytics storage, it is transformed into a one-way hash. The analytics database does not store your name, email address, IP address, full user agent, App Store account, or app installation details.
- Sanitized website action records may be retained for up to 400 days to compare performance over time and are then deleted automatically.
- Cloudflare and the website hosting infrastructure may process standard request and performance information needed to deliver, secure, and measure the website. YoruLearn does not use the Cloudflare Web Analytics beacon to identify visitors across websites.
- If you dismiss the website privacy notice, your browser stores
yorulearn_privacy_notice_dismissed_v1in local storage solely to remember that choice. The value is not used for analytics, advertising, or cross-site tracking. - External services reached through links, such as app stores or other linked resources, may apply their own cookies or storage after you open those services. Their privacy notices govern that activity.
- See Cloudflare’s RUM beacon privacy information for technical details about its cookie-free performance measurement.
2. Scope and Contact
- This Privacy Policy applies to the YoruLearn website, the YoruLearn mobile application on iOS and Android, and support communications relating to those services.
- In this Privacy Policy, “YoruLearn,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to Mariia Zinko, the operator of the YoruLearn service in Ukraine.
- This Privacy Policy does not govern third-party services, websites, or applications that are not controlled by YoruLearn, including third-party payment platforms, app-store operators, analytics providers, advertising providers, or linked external websites, except to the extent expressly described here.
- Questions, requests, or complaints regarding privacy matters may be directed to Mariia Zinko at support@yorulearn.com.
3. Categories of Information Processed
- Learning progress for writing, vocabulary, and grammar; app settings, including accessibility preferences; and reminder preferences are stored locally on your device using SharedPreferences.
- The current release does not require account registration and does not send detailed learning progress to developer-managed servers.
- Application preference data may include privacy and telemetry choices, interface settings, notification choices, and other operating preferences used to preserve your selected experience across sessions.
- If you enable YoruLearn’s optional telemetry, analytics and diagnostic data may include application version, operating-system version, device model class, language, crash logs, performance data, and aggregate feature-usage events processed through Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics.
- On first launch, you can separately choose whether to enable usage analytics and crash diagnostics. You can reject both and still use the app, and you can change either choice any time in Settings > Privacy & Telemetry. These choices control only YoruLearn’s optional Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics collection.
- YoruLearn uses Google ML Kit Digital Ink Recognition to evaluate handwritten Japanese characters. Stroke coordinates, handwriting, and recognition results are processed on your device and are not sent to YoruLearn or Google for recognition. If it is not already installed, the Japanese recognition model is downloaded from Google after the app opens. Recognition works offline after the model is available.
- YoruLearn’s optional Firebase collection does not upload raw stroke coordinates, canvas images, expected kanji, or recognition candidates.
- Google ML Kit may independently process limited technical information for diagnostics and usage measurement, including device and application information, a per-installation identifier, performance data, API configuration, model-download and recognition events, error codes, and the configured language. This technical information does not include the content of your handwriting and is not controlled by YoruLearn’s optional Firebase telemetry switches.
- Advertising-related data may be processed if the application displays advertisements through Google Mobile Ads, including platform-provided device or application identifiers, IP-derived network signals, impression records, interaction events, and limited device or application context required for ad delivery and measurement.
- Subscription and transaction metadata may include product identifiers, transaction identifiers, entitlement status, renewal status, store country, and related purchase metadata made available by Apple, Google, and RevenueCat.
- Support correspondence may include your email address, device details, screenshots, application version, and the content of communications submitted to us.
- Website and infrastructure logs may include standard request data such as browser information, referring page data, IP-derived location signals, and access logs required for service delivery, security, and abuse prevention.
- YoruLearn does not use Google ML Kit for advertising or cross-app tracking.
4. Sources of Information
- We collect information directly from you when you use the service, configure settings, contact support, respond to prompts, or initiate or restore a subscription purchase.
- We collect certain technical information automatically from your device, browser, operating system, and application instance through logs, diagnostics, and integrated software development kits.
- We receive subscription and entitlement information from Apple, Google, RevenueCat, and related store infrastructure in order to validate purchases and administer Premium access.
- We may receive analytics, crash, advertising, or infrastructure data from service providers that support operation, performance measurement, diagnostics, ad delivery, or security functions.
5. Purposes of Processing
- To provide, maintain, administer, secure, and improve the YoruLearn service.
- To preserve locally stored study state, feature configuration, and selected preferences across sessions, updates, and supported device workflows.
- To evaluate handwritten Japanese characters on-device and make the required recognition model available for offline use after download.
- To request notification permission and schedule local reminder notifications when you enable them. Reminder permissions and notifications can be disabled in app or device settings at any time.
- To validate subscription status, enable paid features, restore purchases where available, and prevent subscription misuse or entitlement loss.
- To investigate incidents, diagnose service failures, respond to support requests, and monitor security, fraud, or misuse.
- To comply with applicable legal obligations, respond to lawful requests, enforce contractual terms, and protect the rights, property, and safety of users, service providers, and YoruLearn.
6. Legal Bases and Consent
- Where required by applicable law, YoruLearn’s optional Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics collection is processed on the basis of your consent. You can reject both on first launch and change each choice at any time in Settings > Privacy & Telemetry without losing core app access.
- These controls disable YoruLearn’s Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics collection. They do not control limited technical processing performed independently by SDKs needed for handwriting recognition, purchases, or advertising.
- Third-party SDKs may independently process limited technical information necessary for handwriting recognition, purchases, or advertising under the applicable provider’s terms and privacy notices. The applicable legal basis depends on the governing law and the feature used.
- If advertising functionality is displayed in your version of the application, related advertising data may be processed on the basis permitted by applicable law, platform permissions, and your device-level privacy settings. On iOS, personalized ads may be served only when the required Google ad consent and App Tracking Transparency permission are granted; otherwise, ad requests are non-personalized and do not send IDFA. On Android, Google ad-consent choices govern ad serving.
- We otherwise process information where reasonably necessary for our legitimate interests in operating, securing, troubleshooting, and improving the service and administering subscriptions.
- We may also process information where necessary to perform our contractual obligations to you, including making Premium functionality available after a valid purchase.
- We may process information where necessary to comply with legal obligations, regulatory requirements, or lawful governmental requests.
7. Disclosures to Payment Providers and Service Providers
- We do not sell personal information.
- We do not receive or store full payment card details for App Store or Google Play subscription purchases. Payment processing is performed by Apple or Google, as applicable.
- RevenueCat may process subscription and entitlement information on our behalf for subscription management, purchase restoration, and premium-access administration.
- Firebase may process optional analytics, diagnostics, and related technical event data on our behalf when you enable the corresponding YoruLearn telemetry choice.
- Google ML Kit is a third-party service that performs handwriting recognition on-device and may independently process limited SDK diagnostics and usage metrics. According to Google, recognition input and output are not sent to Google servers for recognition. Its processing is governed by the ML Kit Terms and the Google Privacy Policy.
- Google Mobile Ads may process ad-delivery and ad-measurement data if ad-supported functionality is displayed in your version of the application.
- Hosting, CDN, and infrastructure providers may process limited technical information necessary to deliver the website and maintain availability and security.
- We may disclose information where reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to legal process, investigate fraud or abuse, enforce our terms, or protect the rights, safety, and security of YoruLearn, users, or third parties.
- Service providers may act as processors, service providers, or independent controllers depending on the applicable service, jurisdiction, and governing law.
8. Retention
- Learning data stored locally on your device remains on that device until you delete it through in-application reset tools, operating-system storage controls, or application removal.
- If YoruLearn telemetry is enabled, optional Firebase analytics and crash records are retained under the retention windows configured in Firebase.
- Technical data processed independently by Google ML Kit, app stores, RevenueCat, or Google Mobile Ads is retained under the applicable provider’s terms and policies. YoruLearn does not control those providers’ retention periods.
- Subscription, transaction, and support records may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to administer purchases, resolve disputes, comply with accounting, tax, or legal obligations, and enforce rights or obligations.
- Server, access, and infrastructure logs may be retained for limited periods reasonably necessary for availability management, abuse prevention, incident investigation, and security monitoring.
9. Your Rights and Choices
- Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, restriction of, objection to, or portability of certain personal information.
- Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw consent for YoruLearn’s optional Firebase analytics or crash reporting without affecting core application functionality.
- The in-app telemetry switches control YoruLearn’s optional Firebase collection. They do not control limited technical processing performed independently by SDKs needed for handwriting recognition, purchases, or advertising.
- If advertising features are displayed, you may use available platform privacy settings, tracking permissions, or advertising controls provided by Apple, Google, or the relevant device platform.
- You may manage notifications in application settings or system settings and may clear locally stored application data at any time.
- Subscription cancellations and refund requests are administered by the store platform through which the purchase was made and remain subject to that platform’s policies and procedures.
- Because the current release generally does not require account registration, requests may require sufficient device, transaction, or support-context information to enable us to locate the records reasonably associated with your request.
- Requests relating to privacy rights may be submitted to support@yorulearn.com. We may request information reasonably necessary to verify identity and process the request.
10. Children’s Privacy
- YoruLearn is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 in violation of applicable law.
- If we determine that personal information has been collected from a child under 13 contrary to applicable law, we will take reasonable steps to delete that information.
- Parents or legal guardians who believe that a child has provided personal information may contact support@yorulearn.com.
11. International Transfers and Security
- Information may be processed in countries other than your own, including countries whose data-protection laws may differ from those applicable in your jurisdiction.
- Where required, we rely on reasonable contractual, technical, and organizational safeguards for cross-border transfers.
- We maintain measures designed to protect information in transit and at rest, restrict access on a need-to-know basis, and investigate suspected security incidents.
- No method of transmission, storage, or security control is guaranteed to be completely secure, and users remain responsible for protecting access to their own devices and accounts.
12. Third-Party Services and External Links
- The service may link to, embed, or rely on third-party products and infrastructure, including Apple, Google Play, RevenueCat, Firebase, Google ML Kit, Google Mobile Ads, hosting providers, and other external services.
- Google ML Kit processing is governed by the ML Kit Terms and the Google Privacy Policy.
- Those third parties operate under their own terms, privacy notices, and security practices, and YoruLearn is not responsible for the independent policies or content of services that it does not control.
- You should review the privacy and legal information provided by the relevant store platform, analytics provider, payment provider, advertising provider, and external website when interacting with those services.
13. Amendments to this Privacy Policy
- We may amend this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect operational, legal, technical, or product changes.
- The “Last updated” date shown on this page indicates the effective date of the current version.
- Material changes may be communicated through the website, in-application notice, or store listing updates where appropriate.
